The Daunting Future

Now that I'm heading towards the end of my junior year of high-school, lots of people are asking me the same question but in various forms: what are your plans for your future? I usually reply: I'm thinking about photography. Sometimes I even say: I'm not really sure yet, because really, I'm not.

But lately, I've really been thinking about my future... maybe an internship, hopefully a mission trip mixed in somewhere, and eventually college, but yet I don't have any concrete plans yet. Maybe that's a good thing...

I was reading through my book where I write down my devotionals in the other day, (and by the way, I always thought that writing stuff down is kinda pointless, but actually, you do go back and read through your notes!) and I came across one particular devo that I wrote last August. At the time, I was going through Proverbs with some of my friends in youth group, and wrote a devo on Proverbs 16:9 that says, "A man's heart plans his way, but the Lord directs his steps." This verse immediately made me think of Jeremiah 29:11-13 which says, "For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, says the Lord, thoughts of peace and not of evil, to give you a future and a hope. Then you will call upon Me and go and pray to Me, and I will listen to you. And you will seek Me and find Me, when you search for Me with all your heart." These verses all remind me of Psalm 37:5 which says, "Commit your way to the Lord, trust also in Him, and He shall bring it to pass." and Proverbs 3:5-6 which says, "Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways acknowledge Him, and He shall direct your paths."

All of these verses just comfort me. All of them have one message: trust in God for my future. Romans 8:28 says, "And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love Him, who have been called according to His purpose." God has good plans for my life, plans that please and serve Him. I need to trust in His faithfulness and His promises for my life. So when people ask me: what are your plans for your future? I don't need to worry, because in God's timing, I know that God will lead me where I should go as long as I trust in Him.

These words just kinda fit...

Kaylen- Newborn

This was my first newborn session! Kaylen is a cutie and behaved so well, as she always does. I'm very glad I had this experience, and hope to keep on experimenting with different kinds of photoshoots. We started out with Kaylen's photos, and then finished up with a couple family pictures. Here's a couple of my favorites...

Hope you enjoyed 'em!
